Decimal number lines

B1: 0 to 100 (numbers to 1 decimal place)
B2: 0 to 10 (numbers to 2 decimal places)
B3: 0 to 1 (numbers to 3 decimal places)

Show decimal numbers on a number line. Place value cards are also used to show the numbers.
Drag the number indicator along the number line using the 'move' button. A number can also be shown by clicking on the number line.
Click inside the blue rectangle to show or hide the number.

The number line can be used for estimating numbers: hide all the features then ask pupils to click on where they think a number is on the line.

The number line can be used to show rounding of numbers. For example, round to 1 decimal place, select 0.1 and then drag the number indicator along the line. Let go and the number indicator will snap to the nearest tenth.

Multiply and divide numbers by 10, 100 and 1000

B4: Multiply and divide eg 0.6 x = 60
B5: Just multiply
B6: Just divide

B7: Multiply and divide by 0.1 and 0.01 eg 0.6 x = 0.06
B8: Just multiply
B9: Just divide

B10: Multiply and divide by an integer power of 10 eg 6.6 x = 0.0066
B11: Just multiply
B12: Just divide

Watch the digits move one/two/three places to the left or right
Understand that multiplying by 1000 is equivalent to multiplying by 10 then by 100.

B13: Start with a whole number: click on the x10 etc buttons, click underneath the red number to reveal/hide what it ahs been multiplied or divided by. Click further down to reveal/hide the answer.
B14: Start with a decimal

B15: Game: multiply and divide numbers by 10, 100 and 1000
The aim is to multiply or divide the red number by 10, 100 or 1000 to equal the blue target number. Click on the multiply and divide buttons. Each button can be used once. The more buttons used, the more points are scored. Click on the 'next' button when the target number is equalled or it's not possible to equal it. The game lasts for 2 minutes.
